The Barry Simpson Collection
A COLLECTION OF OLD PHOTOGRAPHS OF RESTRONGUET CREEK
The late Barry Simpson had been a long-time member of the Creek Society being on the committee for 20 years, Treasurer and President, a position he held until 2009 when he retired due to poor health.
Of his collection of old photographs, he said:
“It has only been possible to present these historic photographs of our surroundings through the generosity of other collectors and some of the families who originally possessed them in their albums.
I would like to express my gratitude to the following residents who allowed me to copy these photos (many of which are copies of copies... and have suffered in the course of these reproductions) and must confess that in most cases I am unaware of the original photographers.
They are: Bob Acton, Ralph Bird, Jenny Burrows, Graham Crocker, Peter George, Nancy Hibbert, Patrick Holt, Steve Ivall, Megan King, Jean Lapham, Bill Marshall, Edna Nicholls, Jean Nunn, Barbara Penberth, Diana Robers and Charles Warren.
I would also like to acknowledge the Cornwall Records Office, The Royal Institution of Cornwall, The Environment Agency, Carnon Downs Old Cornwall Society, Cornwall Centre of Local Studies, Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose and Alan Kittridge, author of 'Passenger Steamers of the River Fal’, published by Twelveheads Press.”
